Welcome to our Early Childhood School
Where Children Are Children

Teachers and support staff at St. Michael are dedicated to the children and believe they deserve a childhood where they are respected, allowed to  discover, explore, and inquire.
This leads them to  reach their own unique potential academically, socially  and interpersonally.

We invite you to visit and learn more about us when we reopen!!

Dr. Seuss Week
Children enjoyed the interesting stories and riddles all week. The fun of dressing up in pajamas and wacky clothes.... and documenting just how many books we read all week. Friends enjoyed creating a replica of a favorite book character in many different mediums.

Read Across America Week was a blast! Thanks to all of our families for shopping at the book fair and enjoying the free books that were donated.
A leprechaun trap created by our pink room morning class.... on the lookout! We have spotted gold! St. Patrick's Day Fun.
Dental Health Month
A visit from Cindy to discuss the importance of taking care of our teeth!

Pre-School, Child Care and Before & After Care Are CLOSED

Our ministry will be closed until we receive approval to reopen.
Hope as I am sending this message that it finds all our St. Michael Community well.

As the health and safety in our community was and is changing with the spread of COVID-19 the difficult conversations about closing and the effects on our St. Michael Community families was at the top of our concern. Not without great concern and consideration for our families and staff was the decision to close made. During our discussions we reverted to the recommendation and guidance of the experts to support a proactive approach. The health and well being of your child, family and center team is the heart and soul of what we do.

What does this mean for St. Michael School and Child Care?
God willing we will reopen in the near future. This will only happen providing approval of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.

Are we required to submit tuition?
No. If you made advance monthly payment I will be reaching out in the next few days.

How can you help?
St. Michael is a non-profit program and solely reliable on the payment that families make weekly. Without families using the program there is no income. Should your family have the ability and would like to donate weekly, bi-weekly or a one-time donation it would be welcomed and appreciated.
Donations should be earmarked as a donation in the memo area of your check. Donation received during this period of services suspend will be issued as an end of year tax donation and you will receive a tax donation letter for your 2021 tax year.

Please mail donations:  St. Michael School & Community Child Care, 102 St. Michael Dr Charlestown, Indiana 47111

What about our teachers?
All our staff is committed to providing the best possible early childhood education for ALL of the children we serve.

At this current time the Archdiocese of Indianapolis has asked us to continue to pay our teachers (all staff). Therefore, all our staff will continue to receive their paycheck. Do we have these funds indefinitely? The short answer is no but it is the responsible thing to do. Once this unprecedented pandemic improves we want families and children to know their teachers will be welcoming them back with open arms.

Where will these funds to pay staff come from?
Through our reserves that we are required to maintain. Will this last the duration, if only we had a crystal ball.

My prayers are with our St. Michael School and Child Care Families and staff. Please heed the recommendation to social distance and containment. We will get through this difficult time with our individual proactive behavior and prayers.
